Teaching Across A Double Decade

As children, we are imaginative and dwell in a limitless world of pure potentiality. Our aspirations are inspired by the people and environment around us. Our dreams allow us to believe that we can achieve anything when we grow up. They often point us towards a journey paved with goals and targets, ultimately leading to a career path that will satisfy our hopes and ambitions. This is the story of a passionate teacher, a woman who has followed her dreams to reach a place in her life where she feels fulfilled.

Sunita Sharma, the Founder of Young Scholarz has always been driven by the belief that the future can be shaped in whichever way we choose to imagine it and a sound educational foundation coupled with the right encouragement, will definitely allow everyone to achieve their goals. The determination to help students find and build upon their strengths to emerge as qualified, confident young adults is the driving force of her dedication and commitment as an educator and influencer. With a degree in Applied Biochemistry, Sunita commenced a robust professional journey by qualifying as a British Chartered Accountant working in the UK and Europe. Understanding the value of applying knowledge and developing holistically, Sunita evolved into the role of a professional mentor for the Audit Commission, and coaching adults for professional Accounting examinations. Further fuelling her passion to teach, by accepting the role of a lecturer in British Business School. Given her professional accounting background and flair for numbers, making finance, business and economics interesting and easy to understand was a seamless process. However, what truly called out to her was her talent and skill as a writer. Creating course content for business degrees was her transition into the understated world of English. Perceived as a simple, obvious subject devoid of complexities that one is either good at or not, English is actually a subject of immense depth requiring passion and skill from any teacher who hopes to inspire and engage their students. For Sunita, reading, writing and teaching English are a natural flair as demonstrated in her debut as a scriptwriter in 2011 with a very well-received play, ‘Trikon – The war Within’.

Assuming the role of a full-time Mentor and Professional Educator in Singapore in 2008, Sunita has taught in excess of 20,000 hours and successfully nurtured and supported hundreds of students, from their high school years to their university applications, across the globe. As an academic coach, she is well known for her teaching methods and specializes in teaching English Language and Literature at  IGCSE, IB, ACT and SAT levels. Her diverse academic background and knowledge lend themselves to seamlessly support students across their education and extend to other subjects such as French, Business Studies, Accounting and Economics.

Sunita, an English Specialist, has devised teaching techniques that resonate very well with her students. By bringing in life experiences and discussion awareness of the world around us she has created an inspiring environment for students to engage and exchange ideas. Her ethos is demonstrated through her claims that

aim is a simple one. I would like to share with you what I know and learn more about what I don’t. How you use it will be your choice, but I will have tried my very best”.

She has a strong following of students who have benefitted from her guidance, learning life-long skills of articulate communication, confidence and most importantly a passion and interest in all the subjects she has taught them. As a teacher, mentor and guide, her teaching style is not authoritative, restrictive or coercive and her belief in teaching through a system of example, empowerment and liberation, allows students to enjoy the process of learning and to return back to Sunita for internships, career and university advice. Sunita’s extensive plethora of knowledge and effective teaching strategies have also shaped her into a compelling mentor for professional exams, wherein she has guided student groups online and offline to crack their examinations with flying colours.

Sunita’s plethora of knowledge, effective teaching strategies and effortless incorporation of her corporate experience and real-life application of theories have consistently provided a valuable and enriching learning experience for her students. For this passionate, highly successful, yet humble teacher, her desire remains to share her knowledge with as many young minds as possible. Students passing their exams with flying colours is a given – it is imparting life-long skills and love of learning that is the true result that she strives for.
