Mandira Kar has a passion for English literature and has pursued a Master’s in English along with a degree in education (B.Ed.). She believes that, amidst the evolving eduscape, creativity and critical thinking would be the most important skills for humans to counter artificial intelligence. She also believes language and literature play an indispensable part in developing these skills. Her exposure to different curricula has endowed her with a strong understanding of different teaching techniques and the ability to tailor them according to individual learners’ needs.
Mandira has over a decade of experience teaching English to students in the senior grades. She has taught across curricula, ranging from the Indian National Curriculum, the Cambridge Curriculum (IGCSE), and the International Baccalaureate (MYP and DP). She is also an IELTS trainer and helps students with communicative English. She has attended multiple teacher training workshops to hone her teaching skills.
In addition, Mandira is also an official IBDP Examiner.
Mandira believes in the plasticity of the mind and that everyone can learn with an apt dose of self-motivation. She focuses on instilling confidence in learners and fostering inquiry-based learning. As a practice, she follows what Margaret Mead said: “Children should be taught how to think, not what to think.”.
