IB Theatre
Description
With a range of subject choices and additional compulsory subjects, the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) is a complete package that brings to students various facets of learning. Subjects not just ranging from science to arts, but also touching upon Film, Theatre, Dance, Theory of Knowledge, and so on guide and prepare students, between 16-19 years of age, for success in university and beyond.
The IB Diploma Programme aims to provide a safe yet academically challenging place for students to become knowledgeable, compassionate, curious, and interculturally understanding adults. With multiple language options and subjects like Global Politics, students are given a credible platform to learn through the lens of other cultures.
Through the IB Diploma Programme Theatre Course, students are given the opportunities to approach careers based in theatre that include creators, designers, directors, as well as performers, amongst many other theatre-roles. The IB Theatre course highlights the significance of working both as an individual and as a team. As a student of theatre, you are given the platform to engage and partake in the creative process of inquiring, developing, presenting and evaluating the various roles in theatre.
Through the study of a particular play’s text, students learn to break it down into its various components: from design to theatrical staging of a play, and learn to present their ideas in the form of proposals and reports. As a group, students learn to create an original theatre piece complete with a project report and a video recording of it. These components of the IB DP Theatre course teach and develop both theatre and life skills by building confidence, honing imaginative and creative skills, and creating a collaborative mindset for group settings.
Join us at Young Scholarz for a comprehensive study and application of the IB DP Theatre Course.
